Located near the Philosopher’s Path, Kintsugi KYOGEI is a kintsugi studio dedicated to the art of restoration.
In a space filled with a variety of ceramics, from antique pieces to works by contemporary artists, we offer kintsugi restoration services and hands-on workshops.
We also showcase and sell kintsugi-restored ceramics and handcrafted accessories, offering visitors the opportunity to repair a cherished piece, experience kintsugi for themselves, and discover a unique work to take home.
Whether as a memorable part of your visit to Kyoto, or as a way to preserve a treasured piece for the future, we hope this space becomes a place where you can discover a new connection between kintsugi and ceramics.
Simple Kintsugi Workshop
Instead of traditional urushi lacquer, we use food-safe materials (adhesive and gel) that comply with Japanese food safety standards to repair cracks and chips in ceramics in approximately 90 minutes.
The finishing gold powder is made from brass powder, allowing even beginners to easily experience and enjoy the art of kintsugi.
Kintsugi Repair
We carefully take in your cherished pieces and provide kintsugi restoration tailored to the condition of each object.
From traditional finishes using gold or silver powder to contemporary kintsugi styles, we offer restoration options suited to each piece.

Traditional Urushi Kintsugi Course
This is a continuous course where you will learn traditional kintsugi techniques using authentic urushi lacquer, carefully building each step of the process with patience and attention to detail.
The time required varies depending on the condition of each piece. As a general guideline, completing one piece typically requires approximately 5–10 sessions.
Kintsugi Jewelry Workshop
We provide a selection of ceramic fragments and glass pieces for you to choose from.
Using kintsugi techniques, you can create small handcrafted pieces that bring beauty into everyday life, such as jewelry and chopstick rests.
Even fragments of a cherished piece filled with memories can be transformed into a new form — becoming a unique creation that continues to accompany you for years to come.
